GitHub Copilot: Generated Release Notes Now Credit the Developer, Not Just @copilot

GitHub Copilot

Generated release notes now credit pull requests from the Copilot cloud agent as "by @username with @copilot" instead of "by @copilot." The change applies to all repositories and plans with no setup required.

What changed

Generated release notes now show "by @username with @copilot" for pull requests opened by the Copilot cloud agent. Previously these entries were credited simply "by @copilot."

Scope

The new attribution applies to all repositories and all plans. No configuration or setup is required: the change takes effect automatically.

Why it matters

Crediting both the developer and Copilot in release notes gives a clearer picture of who initiated each change. Contributors retain visible credit for work they delegated to the cloud agent, keeping release notes accurate across every repository.
